About CDC

       The Centre for Curriculum Development (CDC) serves as the cornerstone of academic planning and curriculum innovation at the institution. The Centre is committed to designing, developing, and continuously enhancing relevant curricula, outcome-based, industry-oriented, and aligned with national educational frameworks. Through a systematic and collaborative approach, the CDC ensures that academic programmes remain contemporary, flexible, and responsive to the evolving needs of students, employers, and society. At the CDC, we strive to foster academic excellence by integrating emerging trends, technological advancements, and best practices in higher education into the curriculum. The Centre works closely with faculty members, industry experts, alumni, employers, and other stakeholders to create meaningful learning experiences that promote knowledge, skills, innovation, and employability.

Objectives

  • Curriculum Design and Development:
    Develop, review, and update curricula, course structures, syllabi, and assessment methods to ensure academic excellence, relevance, and alignment with industry requirements.
  • Innovation and Stakeholder Collaboration:
    Collaborate with academicians, industry experts, alumni, and other stakeholders to integrate innovative, skill-based, and experiential learning practices into academic programmes.
  • Continuous Quality Enhancement:
    Gather and analyse stakeholder feedback to continuously improve the curriculum, enhancing student engagement, employability, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning competencies.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify emerging and niche areas of study and recommend new academic programmes.
  • Design curricula and frame regulations in accordance with UGC, TANSCHE, Periyar University, integrate NEP-2020, and other statutory guidelines.
  • Coordinate syllabus development and guide departments on credit structure, instructional hours, and academic requirements.
  • Facilitate the conduct of Board of Studies Meetings, Standing Committee on Academic Affairs Meetings, and Academic Council Meetings twice in an academic year.
  • Develop curriculum enrichment initiatives such as self-study courses, skill enhancement programmes, value-added courses, and extra-credit opportunities.
  • Formulate assessment rubrics and evaluation frameworks in consultation with academic leadership.
  • Promote and monitor the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) across all programmes.
  • Organize orientation and capacity-building programmes for faculty members on curriculum design, assessment practices, and OBE implementation.
  • Ensure continuous curriculum revision based on stakeholder feedback, industry trends, and academic advancements.
