Introduction

    As hostels are homes away from homes, the K.S.R. College of Engineering hostels provide an atmosphere that is conducive for both boys and girls separately. The team of Wardens and Tutors take great care in nurturing the students’ ability. Apart from it Modern kitchen equipment has been installed and the food is served in hygienic and sanitized conditions Drinking Water purification using RO system facilitates supply of Purified water (Mineral Water) in all the coolers and in mess.

    Based on their preference, students may avail any one type of hostel facility.

Hostel Management & Rules


The hostels are under the direct control of the Principal, who is the Warden. The Warden will be assisted by Co-Wardens, Dy.Wardens, Residential Tutors, Hostel Superintendent and Hostel Staff.

Hostel and Mess Committee


  • The hostel and mess committee is constituted with the Warden as President, the Dy. Warden and the Student Representatives from hostels.
  • The committee frames the rules and regulations from time to time for the effective administration of the hostels.
  • Residents are required to adhere to the rules and regulations. Ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse.
  • Violation of rules and regulations will be viewed seriously.

Hostel Admission


  • Application for admission to the hostel can be obtained from the office. A passport size photograph must be affixed in the application form.
  • The student seeking hostel admission must give an undertaking in writing that he will abide the rules and regulations of the hostel. This should be endorsed by the parent / guardian in writing.
  • Membership ceases automatically at the end of each academic year. Students who are desirous of returning to the hostel have to submit a fresh application for re-admission.
  • The warden reserves the right to refuse admission to the hostel to any student without assigning any reasons or to expel any member in the interest of administration. The decision of the warden will be final.

General Rules and Regulations

Students who experience or witness ragging are encouraged to report the incident immediately. All complaints will be treated confidentially and investigated promptly.


  • Students should stay only in the room allotted to them by the Deputy Warden/Tutors and should not interchange rooms without permission.
  • Furniture should not be interchanged.
  • Inmates must keep rooms, bathrooms, and toilets neat and tidy and dispose of waste only in dustbins.
  • Students should not arrange additional facilities in their rooms that may inconvenience roommates.
    • Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. Violators will be expelled and legal action will be initiated as per government regulations. Fooling of any sort on April 1st is also prohibited.
    • Any form of gambling is strictly prohibited within the hostel premises.
    • Smoking, drinking, playing cards, playing audio/video systems, discussing politics or religion, writing on walls, or pasting posters are prohibited.
    • Students using rude language towards hostel staff, assaulting, or attempting to assault staff or fellow students will be expelled.
    • Students are not permitted to stay in the hostel during college working hours without prior permission from the Warden or Deputy Warden.
    • Day scholars and students from other institutions are not permitted to enter the hostel premises.
    • Study hours are from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (Monday–Friday). Attendance may be taken at any time during study hours. Students must remain in their rooms and maintain silence during this period.
    • Students are not allowed to roam around or visit other rooms unnecessarily during study hours.
    • No students, visitors, or guests are permitted to enter the hostel after 7:00 p.m.
    • Television viewing is permitted from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on working days and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on holidays.
    • Outdoor games are not permitted inside the hostel premises.
    • Students must lock their rooms, switch off lights and fans before leaving, and ensure doors and windows are secured.
    • Students should adhere to mess timings as notified and bring their own plates, tumblers, and utensils.
    • Students may go home during holidays only after registering their names in the prescribed register.
    • Mess utensils and food items must not be taken outside the dining hall.
    • Guests may dine in the mess only with a valid paid token.
    • Room rent once paid is non-refundable.
    • Damage to hostel property will result in recovery of twice the cost of repair/replacement along with penalties.
    • Cleanliness must be maintained in the mess and hostel premises. Food wastage should be avoided. Students are not allowed to enter the kitchen.
    • Requests, petitions, appeals, and complaints should be submitted only to the Warden or Deputy Warden.
    • All inmates of the Ladies Hostel must be inside the hostel before 6:00 p.m.
    • Three visitor cards are provided to Ladies Hostel inmates. Visitors are allowed only upon producing a valid visitor card and before 6:00 p.m.
    • Male students are not allowed to enter the Ladies Hostel, and female students are not allowed to enter the Gents Hostel.
    • No reduction in hostel fees will be granted irrespective of the number of days of absence.
    • For staff members dining in the hostel, mess charges will be deducted from salary. No reductions are allowed.
    • Any dues from previous years must be cleared before room allotment for the current year.
    • Students must pay lodging and boarding charges in advance before the reopening date.
    • Students from other states are required to stay in the hostel compulsorily and are not permitted to stay outside.
    • Students leaving the hostel without permission will be subject to penalties and may be terminated from the hostel for repeated violations.
    • Students are advised to keep money, jewelry, and valuables safely. Hostel authorities are not responsible for any loss.
    • If a student is suspended from the college, hostel suspension will automatically follow. Readmission is subject to the Warden's discretion.
    • Hostel telephones should be used only for essential calls and for a maximum duration of three minutes.
    • Collective petitions or complaints are not permitted. Only individual petitions addressed to the Warden will be considered.
    • Students must obtain permission from the Deputy Warden before absenting themselves from the hostel. Emergency absences must be reported in writing.
    • In addition to these rules, students must comply with any new regulations framed by the hostel authorities from time to time.
    • The Warden's decision shall be final regarding the interpretation and enforcement of hostel rules and regulations.

Procedure for leaving the Hostel permently

  • Students wishing to leave the hostel must submit an application to the Warden through the Deputy Warden. They may leave the hostel only after obtaining the necessary approval.
  • Before vacating the hostel, students must hand over all allotted furniture and electrical fittings and obtain a clearance certificate from the Deputy Warden.
  • At the time of departure, students must sign the Mess Leaving Register.
  • Students are required to pay the establishment and power charges for the entire mess month, even if they have utilized mess facilities for only a part of that month.
