The Department of Electronics and Communication was established in the year 2002 with a vision to nurture technically skilled, socially responsible graduates. The department offers a 3-year Undergraduate (UG) program – B.Sc., Electronics and Communication (B.Sc., EC) with a current intake of 40 students per year. The department is affiliated to Periyar University and functions as an autonomous institution to enhance academic flexibility and curriculum innovation. The institution is accredited with NAAC A+, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence. The curriculum is designed based on Outcome Based Education (OBE) and follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to meet the evolving needs of the industry and society. It emphasizes a strong foundation in electronics and communication concepts while integrating emerging areas such as Embedded Systems, IoT, Robotics, VHDL Programming, Communication Systems, Computer Hardware, and Networking. In line with the department's Vision and Mission, the course is structured to balance theoretical knowledge with practical skill development. The department constantly works towards bridging the gap between rural academic backgrounds and industrial expectations by delivering fundamentally strong inputs, continuous mentoring, and skill-based training. Students are equipped to take up careers in both core electronics industries and software sectors, with many of them finding placements in reputed companies. The department maintains MoUs with core companies to facilitate industry exposure and internships. In addition, value-added courses such as Mobile Phone Servicing and specialized lab facilities for simulation and circuit construction are provided to enhance practical competency. The department aims to produce graduates who are not only academically sound but also capable of adapting to modern engineering challenges, thereby becoming competent professionals and socially responsible citizens.
Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Government of TamilNadu or an Examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the syndicate.
To nurture the potential of students by designing and delivering learning inputs based on current trends to achieve excellence in academics and to create employable and socially responsible citizens.
To design and delivering fundamentally strong learning inputs by providing equal importance for academics and individual development
To create employable graduates by continuous motivation, teaching, and training that bridge the gap between rural inputs and industrial benchmarks.

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Electronics and Communication. Since its inception, the department has been committed to delivering quality education that bridges foundational knowledge with emerging technological advancements. With over 25 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership, I am dedicated to creating an environment that nurtures innovation, research, and skill development. My academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Electronics, followed by a postgraduate degree in Applied Electronics from PSG College of Arts and Science (1998). To further broaden my expertise, I pursued an M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering and qualified the UGC-NET examination in 2009. I earned my Ph.D. from Bharathiar University in 2017, specializing in Medical Image Processing using Machine Learning—a field that remains central to my research and publications. Our department emphasizes practical learning, and our curriculum is designed in line with Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) to ensure our students are industry-ready. With published research in SCI, SCIE, and Scopus-indexed journals, we also encourage our faculty and students to take part in cutting-edge research that solves real-world problems. The department boasts state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and consistently conducts workshops, faculty development programs (FDPs), and technical seminars to promote ongoing academic growth. Through value-added courses, industry partnerships, and a wide range of co-curricular activities, we ensure that our graduates are well-equipped to thrive in core electronics, software, and interdisciplinary fields. To the aspiring engineers and innovators — this is the right platform to build your technical acumen, creative thinking, and leadership skills. I urge each student to make the most of the opportunities here, not just to become a competent professional, but also a socially responsible citizen. Let us learn, lead, and leap into the future — together.
