About Department

    As the world becomes increasingly data-driven, the surge in data generation and the insights drawn from it have created a global demand for professionals skilled in Data Science. In response to this need, the Department of Computer Science - Data Science was established in 2020. The department is dedicated to producing industry-ready graduates by offering B.Sc. program in Computer Science - Data Science, combining foundational computer science knowledge with cutting-edge analytical and computational techniques. The department actively organizes special lectures, hands-on workshops, debugging contests, quiz programs, and various technical competitions to enrich the academic experience. These initiatives provide students with excellent opportunities to showcase their hidden talents, enhance their practical skills, and deepen their diverse knowledge in the dynamic field of Data Science.

Eligibility

    A candidate who has passed in Higher Secondary Examination with Mathematics or Business Mathematics or Computer Science or Statistics (Academic stream or Vocational stream) as one of the subject under Higher Secondary Board of Examination, TamilNadu as per norms set by the Government of TamilNadu or an Examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the syndicate, subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereto are permitted to appear and qualify for the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science - Data Science degree examination of this university after a course of study of three academic years.

Mission

 To provide a learning ambience to enhance innovations, problem solving skills, leadership qualities, team-spirit and ethical responsibilities.
 To equip the graduates with the necessary skills in statistical data analysis and to understand the computing for data science.
 To inculcate the latest tools and technologies for software development to cope with current industrial needs.


  • PEO 1: To solve wide range of real time problems in computing by effectively applying tools and techniques in order to cater the needs of industry and society.
  • PEO 2: To inculcate the multidisciplinary approach, professional attitude and communication skills, to become effective associates through innovative methodologies, will be able to deal with the social, technical and business challenges.
  • PEO 3: To be a good team member and in course of time will be able to lead the team to find solutions and enhancements in their field of proficiency.
After the completion of the programme, the graduates will be able to
  • PSO 1: Define the optimize solution for the given problem with effective programming development skills.
  • PSO 2: Apply the different statistical strategies in Data Analytics to acquire exact results.
  • PSO 3: Implement various Machine Learning Algorithms to make predictions or decisions over very high volume data sets.
  • PSO 4: Use knowledge for the development of real time applications with innovative ideas and emerging technologies.
  • PSO 5: Understand and formulate professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities for the computing profession.
After the completion of the programme, the graduates will be able to
  • PO 1: Apply logical, programming and software development skills in various domains.
  • PO 2: Apply the knowledge of Statistical concept for Data Analytics using latest tools.
  • PO 3: Identify and formulate the Machine Learning techniques over Big Data.
  • PO 4: Exhibit the acquired skills in different domains such as .NET framework, Python and R tools.
  • PO 5: Apply the effective skills in Project Management, Risk and Change Management with professional and ethical responsibilities.
